Ideal Homes’ Christmas Show edition opened today at Olympia, London. First through the doors this morning at 10am, I did the dirty work for you! Open until Tuesday November 29th, you have plenty of time to visit the show but before you go, check out my five do’s and don’ts!
- DO – The Christmas Theatre
Take a seat and lap up the tips and insights that celebrity speakers such as, Katie Piper and Lawrence Llewelyn-Bowen are sharing about Christmas fashion and decor. From how to make your own Christmas wreath to stress-free wrapping and the perfect wine pairings to go with your Christmas roast, the Christmas Theatre is definitely worth your time. You can see the full calendar of speakers, here.
- DO – Christmas decorations
Pretty much the whole bottom floor of Olympia is filled Christmas lights, decorations for the tree, decor for your home and silverware for your special Christmas Day table! It’s basically Santa’s workshop and with most exhibitors offering great show prices, this is where I’d be doing my Christmas decor shopping!
- DON’T – Put up with the sales people
Most exhibitors at the event were really friendly but there were some that literally shouted at you about their product as you walked past. Areas I would recommend avoiding if this type of thing gets on your nerves as much as it does mine; the beauty and household product exhibitors. If you see one of these in the corner of your eye, turn and walk discreetly fast in the opposite direction.
- DON’T – Areas to avoid upstairs
If you are going to the show purely for Christmas decorations, don’t bother going upstairs. Although there are some great food products upstairs that’ll have you conjuring up magnificent Christmas feast ideas, as well as Christmas Food & Drink Theatre, the rest of the exhibitors include fashion, beauty and toy product (however, there are some great kids gift ideas at very good prices, if you have children, nieces/nephews, or grandchildren!)
- DO – Christmas After Dark
Tomorrow, Thursday 24th November, the show will stay open until 9pm and as the sun goes down, an evening of festive fun and games will commence, including special show content, live entertainment and unique offers in the Christmas Restaurant and Champagne Bar. For just £25 per person (entry included), you can enjoy unlimited Prosecco for 2 hours (from 6-8pm) with Tapas Bar Bites and live music at The Gregg Wallace Christmas Restaurant! You’ll know where to find me!
The Ideal Home Show at Christmas is sponsored by Britelite Windows and is offering everything from tasty tips on turkey to the sprouts, decorations and hand crafted gifts, Christmas puddings and festive fizz, to furniture and New Year Home Improvements. At-the-door entrance fees are £10 and special ‘After Dark’ entry fees are £5 (only for Thursday night after 5pm).
Find out more about the show and how to get there on the Ideal Home Show Christmas website. Have fun!
Some great gift ideas, including uniquely crafted chocolate pieces for the sweet tooth’s from Choco Passion, beautiful glass decorations from Treasure Tree, and the perfect gift for a wildlife fanatic from Hawkforce Falconry.
