Colour of the Year 2017

The long, anxiously awaited day has come! Pantone, the global authority on colour, released its inaugural Colour of the Year for 2017 today. A fresh and zesty yellow-green shade, Greenery evokes revival, restoration and renewal, encouraging you to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.

PANTONE 15-0343 Greenery was carefully selected by the global institutions’ colour experts amid a time of social and political uncertainty. Following Brexit and the US Election, it’s safe to say that our world needs a little bit of reinvigoration right now! A shade that is both calming and revitalising, Greenery speaks to individuals that are seeking something outside their modern reality, a refuge where one can reconnect with nature, reflect and reestablish their personal pursuits and passions.

“Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the hope we collectively yearn for amid a complex social and political landscape. Satisfying our growing desire to rejuvenate, revitalise and unite, Greenery symbolises the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose … Through its reassuring yet assertive vibrancy, Greenery offers us self-assurance and boldness to live life on our own terms, during a time when we are redefining what makes us successful and happy,” says Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute.

Providing a pop of colour in accessories and footwear, representing today’s health food trends including matcha and seaweed, and encouraging homeowners to bring the outside into their interior spaces through house plants and green decor, Greenery can be incorporated into our daily lives in various ways.

With the ability to improve self-esteem, reduce anxiety and heighten awareness of one’s surroundings, Greenery will provide a fresh and revitalising start to 2017!
